A New Look... A New Time  People Helping People

Toronto--A new look for the website as we're changing the outlook to make the website more responsive to the audience, and more informative daily.  People Helping People is moving to a new timeslot, 8-10 pm Eastern (GMT 2-4) Monday to Friday, starting Monday October 23 on CFYI Talk 640 Toronto.  It remains in it's regular Midnite - 1 am (GMT 6-7) on AM 800 CKLW Windsor/Detroit, and will be available online as well, making 3 hours of original online programming daily!

The changes in the website reflect a lot of changes in response from listeners, including far more input in letters and submissions.  "We've gotten to the point where I can almost write a daily column" according to host Mark Elliot.  "News is coming out fast enough that there are daily decisions to make regarding topics and guests."  Over the years since it's inception in 1995 PHP has featured just about every top name in the field of recovery and there is a huge base of callers that's been growing as well, meaning that topics are on the cutting edge in the field of addictions.  Listening to PHP keeps you abreast of what people are talking about and why?  For example, Elliot cites the recent topics of Self-Mutilation and controversies surrounding the use of psychiatric drugs.  "Both topics are on the best-sellers lists of recovery books, but virtually ignored by most recovery media," he says.  "People Helping People doesn't have the luxury of editing or controlling content brought up on the program...the callers talk about what's bothering them, and these are the kinds of topics that are coming up."

It's a new look for the website too!

Links to connect to different topics in the news, plus expanded resources and features!  The more interactive the better!  We're looking for ideas and submissions, and we'd like to hear from you!  Got a suggestion?  Send it to feedback@markelliot.com
